WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING COORDINATOR, COMMUNITY STUDIES
FACULTY OF HEALTH AND COMMUNITY STUDIES

Our Community Studies programs are expanding! The Early Learning and Child Care program and the Community Support Worker program have small class sizes and a practicum component. The programs are designed to prepare students to practice in a range of community programs. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive list of practicum sites, supervisors and mentors.
  • Coordinate placement of students in practicum in the ELCC and CSW programs.
  • Face to face visits with new and existing practicum sites.
  • Track practicum requirements and needs in the Community Support Worker and Early Learning and Child Care programs.
  • Recruit placement agencies and onsite mentors with appropriate qualifications.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Maintain up to date information regarding programs and placements.
  • Revise practicum handbooks and practicum course outlines as required.
  • Provide leadership in Work Integrated Learning as college wide systems are implemented.
  • Work as a member of the program teams.
  • Work as a member of the FHCS Work Integrated Learning team.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Community Studies (i.e. Early Learning and Child Care, Community Support Worker, Disability Studies) or any Social Science discipline or related field, Masters preferred.
  • A solid understanding of and appreciation for the programs and community.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in community.
  • Previous instructional experience in a post-secondary environment and course work in adult education, with evidence of student-centered teaching excellence, is preferred.
  • Experience with learner management systems (ie. Moodle, adobe connect, peoplesoft student), placement systems (ie. Orbis) and computer programs (ie word, outlook, powerpoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills required.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS:

Successful candidates for the Community Studies Work Integrated Learning faculty position are required to provide the following:
  • Educational credentials
  • A Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within the last ninety days

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. This position also includes very generous vacation and immediate participation in our comprehensive pension and benefits plans

We are currently seeking to fill one permanent full time position starting in July or August 2018.
