Are you an energetic, enthusiastic individual with a passion for developing and supporting early childhood/literacy curriculum? Would you like to provide adult ESL students, with a range of language levels, with the knowledge and skills to support young families? Are you able to work in a collaborative teaching team?
If so, consider joining our team as an Early Learning Facilitator. In this role you will use Essential Skills, ESL and early learning strategies and methodologies to improve student knowledge of parenting in Canada, early childhood development, and language and literacy development, through developing and facilitating child centered family programming.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and support adults and children in learning activities
Maintain classroom materials, program currency, identify training, and suggest appropriate materials or speakers for the program in collaborate with Lead Instructor
Nurture the development of a safe and inviting learning environment, adapting it to the needs and interests of the children and parents
Participate actively in children’s play and learning modeling effective communication and interact with parents and children, to stimulate development and encourage positive behaviour
Other duties as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree/Diploma related to child development
Experience working with adult ESL learners or in a parent education environment an asset.
Experience working with immigrant and refugee populations
Experience in a collaborative work environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Strong organizational, long-term planning and evaluative techniques required
Knowledge of a second language an asset
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS:
Successful candidates for the Early Learning Facilitator position are required to provide the following:
Police Information Check obtained within the last 90 days
Vulnerable Sector Check obtained within the last 90 days
Up-to-date immunization records
SALARY: The hourly wage for this opportunity is $24/hr.
NOTE: This is a Con Ed. position for 4 hours on Saturdays from March 5 to April 23, 2016 with a possibility of extension.
