The Niagara College STUDENT ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL INC. (NCSAC) is hiring one (1) Lead Day Cook to work at The Armoury (Niagara-on-the-Lake Student Centre). The Lead Day Cook is responsible for preparing meals for patrons, maintaining proper inventory controls, and ensuring the kitchen is in compliance with all health standards and safety practices. Essential Job Functions

Ensure adequate standards of cleanliness and sanitation are maintained in all food handling, storage, and food service area.
Assist in monitoring portion control standards.
Ensure that the standardized portion sizes, and product specification are followed to minimize waste.
Conduct weekly inventory of all food items and supplies to Student Centre Manager.
Ensure satisfaction of customers at all times and orders are prepared and delivered in a timely manner.
Report all equipment malfunctions to the Operations Manager immediately.
Ensure adequate standards of cleanliness and sanitation are maintained in all food handling, storage, and food service area.
Ensure availability and maintenance of kitchen supplies and equipment and submit requisition to the Operations Manager as necessary.
Assist with kitchen staff general duties.
Ensure monthly proper inventory control counts are completed.
Responsible to receive inventory, stock the shelves and cleaning all areas involved.

Job Requirements

Education

High School Diploma Required. Diploma/Certificate in Culinary or Hospitality preferred.

Ideal Candidate

Tremendous verbal communication and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure. Bondable. Self-starter that can work with minimal supervision. Holds Food Handlers and Smart Serve Certificates. Excellent customer service skills. Minimum two (2) years’ experience in hospitality industry.

Hours of Work

The Lead Day Cook at Niagara-on-the-Lake will work Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. This is a contract position from September – April.
