The Marketing department functions as an in-house marketing, graphic design and communications service for Niagara College, in the following areas:

  • Marketing consultation and plan development;
  • Design services;
  • Digital services;
  • Photography;
  • Print services;
  • Social media communications;
  • Web services; and
  • Event planning and promotional material.

Applications are invited for the part-time position, of Digitial Media Officer working within Niagara College’s Marketing Department. This posting is for maternity leave coverage, approximately October 2018 through November 2019.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing the incumbent is a key member of the College’s Marketing and Recruitment Division. The successful incumbent will engage prospective students, applicants and key influencers through various social media channels and social media marketing campaigns.

Job Description:

  • Develop and manage the content calendar aligned with content strategy and objectives
  • In collaboration with other departmental staff, guide the development of creative and efficient social media content to foster engagement and further discovery into NC programs and services
  • Collaborate with internal marketing departmental staff and other departments on the promotion of content (i.e. landing pages, campaign microsites, creative assets, demos, video, copy, descriptions)
  • Plan and manage contests and other social initiatives as part of larger overall strategies and report on prospective student campaigns and engagement across social platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with Online Recruitment Officer and Digital Media Coordinator to deliver a positive consumer experience through all social channels.
  • Track performance of customer experience and engagement tactics against objectives. Be the voice of the customer by collecting and analyzing consumer feedback to enhance both social media strategies and face to face activities (i.e. Open House, recruitment visits, etc.)
  • Working with the Marketing Associate Director, coordinate content strategy recommendations on NC’s social media platforms as well as lead the implementation of emerging social media opportunities.
  • Working with the Marketing Associate Director, coordinate the implementation of NC’s social media advertising strategy to promote NC programs, services and initiatives.
  • In collaboration with the Associate Director, monitor, evaluate and report on social media campaign success.
  • Serve as a key member of Marketing, Recruitment and Academic teams, collaboratively developing program-specific marketing plans for those teams.
  • Provide tactical communications support including social media campaign materials.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have a two or three year diploma/degree either in the field of Graphic Design, Communications, Sales or Marketing.
  • 1 or more years of experience or training in digital marketing, content marketing, search engine marketing, Google Analytics, calls-to-action, and social media.
  • Above average working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite is required.
  • Excellent project management, communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated experience writing for the web and for a digital environment.
  • Ability to assess audience/customer needs and develop content strategies to meet specific needs.
  • Superior problem solving skills, a high level of organizational ability and ability to deal with multiple deadlines and demands.
  • 1 year of related experience in a large public sector, institutional or commercial organization with experience working in an agency developing inbound marketing and advertising strategies for clients is an asset.

The position is classified as a Support Services Officer C at a starting rate of $28.97 for a 24 hour work week. The incumbent would also be required to work full-time hours throughout the year during peak periods.
