Job Type: Starting at 15 hour per week

NexusBC is launching a social enterprise, which is a business that combines both commercial and social goals. The business we are introducing is Excel Cleaning, a residential and commercial cleaning company.

The Manager will operate the business out of NexusBC. The Manager’s time will initially be split between overseeing the operations of the business and providing cleaning services.

This position requires someone entrepreneurial, who likes the flexibility and responsibility of operating their own business and who is also willing to get their hands dirty. The person we have in mind will be energetic, able to work independently and is an exceptional problem solver with supervisory experience. The successful candidate will be outgoing and sales-minded, willing to help build the business by networking and connecting with potential customers. The Manager will have 3-5 years of residential/commercial cleaning experience, and 1-2 years managing cleaning staff in a residential or commercial cleaning environment. The Manager must pass a criminal record check and have a current driver’s license and use of a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Take calls from potential customers to answer questions about the service and to schedule an on-site assessment

Perform cleaning services as needed

Return calls and emails from potential and current customers

Market the business by cold-calling, attending networking events and providing information to potential clients

Attend trade shows where networking opportunities may present themselves such as wedding shows, home shows, seniors trade shows, wellness fairs

Liaise with NexusBC staff contact on a regular basis

Create and maintain customer files in a secure and confidential manner

Record all sales transactions and expenses and remit to NexusBC accountant at the end of each month

Hiring cleaning staff in conjunction with NexusBC staff liaison

Training and providing uniforms for cleaning staff

Replenishing cleaning supplies

Maintaining equipment
