The New Brunswick Public Library Service (NBPLS) is searching for a creative and dynamic individual
with demonstrated enthusiasm towards the mission of public libraries for the casual opportunity of Public
Service Librarian at the Chaleur Library Regional Office in Campbellton.
As a member of the Regional Management Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for
playing a key role in the following areas: regional planning; development and coordination of staff
training; promotion, marketing, public and community relations; development and coordination of
programs; and support to libraries.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: coaching and training staff in the delivery and
promotion of quality public library service; assisting in identifying and meeting training needs; developing
and coordinating staff development initiatives; developing and implementing regional programs;
participating in the development of provincial programs and assuring their regional implementation;
assisting in identifying library programming needs; ensuring the evaluation of programs and services;
participating in provincial and regional committees; coaching staff in media and community relations;
promoting public libraries and their services by engaging in public and media relations; developing
regional promotional materials such as pamphlets; marketing library programs and services; establishing
relationships with community groups and potential partners; attending Library Manager and Director
meetings and Regional Forum meetings as required; making presentations; conducting research and
preparing reports; and overseeing grant applications and their management.
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Studies from an ALA
accredited program and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience. The successful candidate
will also have experience using library automation software, the Internet and electronic reference tools.

A demonstrated sense of organization as well as a strong aptitude for public service, research, problem
solving, analysis and teamwork is necessary.
