NES Global Talent is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the Oil & Gas Industry. Our client, ExxonMobil Canada Energy, has an opportunity for a Drilling Superintendent. This is a Rotational assignment between St. John’s Newfoundland and the Hibernia Offshore platform, for a 2 year contract (project based).

Responsibilities :
Ensure Drilling procedures are followed as planned and conducted in an optimum manner
Organize and order the necessary services and equipment to conduct drilling and testing operations
Responsible for health and safety procedures being continuously enforced, and making capable decisions in emergencies to prevent well catastrophes as well as significant additional costs
Responsible for implementation of OIMS on the rig
Ensure operations are consistent with OIMS and comply with the Drilling OIMS Manual
Ensure rig and third party equipment are adequately and properly maintained
Maintain inventory of all equipment / materials / supplies to ensure a smooth ongoing operation
Responsible for casing being tallied, properly run and cemented.
In association with the well site geologists, ensure logging, coring, and production testing are performed as planned
Responsible for operations complying with all government and other appropriate regulations
Ensure potential pollution control problems are considered and relative contingency plans are understood by rig and third party personnel
Direct responsibility that blowout, marine safety and other drills are held on a regular basis
In association with onsite technical personnel (drilling engineer, geologists, etc.), is responsible for abnormal pressure techniques being properly utilized and mud characteristics being maintained for maximum safety and efficient drilling
Ensure accurate and adequate reports and records are kept regarding operations, equipment, and evaluation
Relieve the Operations Superintendent as designated
Maintain qualification in Well Control Training

Qualifications and experience :
Must have 5+ years of Drilling Superintendent experience with ExxonMobil combined with 20+ years of industry experience.
Familiarity with Eastern Canada work processes and regulatory requirements.
Proven Ability to maintain regulatory training requirements including supervisory offshore drilling and completions well control and experience working in harsh weather conditions.
Wage/Benefits Package
$160 – $200 per hour
