TITLE: Electrical Engineering Coop

LOCATION: Waterloo

POSTION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY We are looking for an electrical engineer to join our Media Handling Engineering development group, located in Waterloo, Ontario. Media Handling Engineering is responsible for the design, development and support of Automated Teller machines, Cheque Payment Processing Equipment and Cheque and Banknote processing modules for ATMs. The successful candidate would be part of an engineering team which develops and maintains mechanical and electromechanical product designs and their associated firmware and software. Function: Assist in support of design specifications and implementation of designs involving high speed digital electronics and supporting micro-controller firmware under the direction of a senior design engineer. This position involves both desk-based and hands-on design and analysis work as well as test work over the course of a year. Depending on project schedules, any given semester may be heavily focused in a particular area. The scope of design and support activities could include: • board level circuit design • generation of PCB schematics • programmable component design • FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) • PLD (Programmable Logic Devices) • Micro-Controllers firmware design. • assist in the development of design and test specifications • design verification • design support

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Candidate must be working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Through education and work placements, knowledge of any of the following areas: • Familiarity with digital logic design. • FPGA, CPLD, PLD, TTL logic • Familiarity with micro-controller firmware/software design. • C language programming • Some familiarity with basic analogue circuit design would be an asset.
