Canada has one of the highest rates of multiple sclerosis in the world, making MS Canada’s disease. The MS Society of Canada is the country’s leading MS advocate, funding leading research in MS and programs & services that help people live well with the disease.

Reporting to the Director, Government Relations and Communications, the Coordinator, Marketing and Communications supports the development and delivery of internal and external marketing and communications initiatives to increase awareness of multiple sclerosis and the work of the MS Society. Through social media platforms, print materials and by leveraging our networks across Saskatchewan, the Coordinator engages the community to meet our awareness, advocacy, support and fundraising priorities.



  • Writes and edits content for various internal and external documents
  • Provides communications and media relations support for events and activities
  • Responsible for website and social media content, posting and updates
  • Creates content for, designs, and prepares monthly e-newsletter
  • Creates pamphlets, brochures, and posters for various activities/events
  • Solicits and coordinates content for marketing materials
  • Assists with development marketing plans, liaising with media suppliers and sponsors and preparing copy for print or broadcast
  • Acts as communications liaison at MS Society events, which includes media relations, audio visual logistics, taking photographs and/or coordination of volunteer photographers
  • Manages the collection, culling and dissemination of photos as needed
  • Applies the MS Society’s established graphic standards to all materials and supports other staff to do same
  • Creates accurate, clear specifications for print and other designed products, works with suppliers to ensure satisfactory delivery
  • Coordinates ‘storytelling’ through volunteer and community profiles
  • Supports communications logistics for various community based events and activities
  • Maintains distribution lists for mailing/emailing divisional information to MS Community

Social media engagement

  • Develops strategies and tactical plans for the deployment of social media content supporting the MS Society’s revenue campaigns, government relations and advocacy campaigns and programs and services activities
  • Drives engagement on social media by creating and adapting MS Society key messaging for a social media audience and guiding the conversation on MS Society social media channels
  • Delivers content through social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other appropriate social media channels
  • Measures content performance, and research ways to help the MS Society meet content goals and objectives
  • Manages relationships with social media brand advocates and influencers, and jumps on trends and conversations happening within the MS community on social media
  • Acts as internal point of contact for MS Society fundraising, development, research, government relations, and P&S staff when connecting brand advocates to various campaigns
  • Manages social media response for issues management and stakeholder concerns in collaboration with the reputation management team
  • Works with the national media relations team to monitor and coordinate media responses on social media channels
  • Engages in two-way conversations on social media, via monitoring of channels and creative ways to engage with audiences


  • University or college degree or diploma in communications or a related field with 2 – 3 years of relevant experience in a communications role (can include work terms)
  • Software proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required; knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • High level of proficiency in website content management and social media platforms
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment would be an asset
  • Outstanding communications skills – written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to multi-task
  • Prompt, self-reliant and detail oriented
  • Ability to take initiative and practice good decision making and problem solving
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to a diverse workload
  • Sensitive to issues of disability and diversity
  • Actively engaged in social media and familiar with new social media vehicles
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with internal and external constituents by telephone and face-to-face
  • Excellent attention to detail

Special Considerations:

  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required
  • Travel from time to time within Saskatchewan may be required
