In partnership with the Primary Care Network and the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network, Mississauga Halton Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is recruiting for a student to assist with the development of a Specialist eCompendium. The Specialist eCompendium will become a sub-section of MississaugaHaltonhealthline.ca, a website that provides information about health services within the region that can be accessed by consumers and healthcare providers. The eCompendium is a tool that will contain the profiles of specialist physicians in the region, with the aim to allow primary care physicians to search for specialist physicians within our region, in order to help with referrals.
The eCompendium micro-site has already been built, and we are now in the process of contacting specialists so that we can collect their information and populate profiles. We require the assistance of a student from a post-secondary health care program to follow-up with specialists, either by phone or in person to collect their information and help ensure that consistent terminology is reflected across the specialists’ profiles. This will be a good learning experience on practice variability, system design, and communicating with different practices.
