The Design Centre Assistant is responsible for supporting the Design Consultants and Design Centre Manager by responding to general inquiries and requests. As well the Design Centre Assistant must be available every weekend to host Design Centre browsing hours, provide superior customer service and perform light administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Welcome guests to the Design Centre and provide exceptional customer experience for all visitors and callers
  • Track and update logs with visitor information, check for voicemail messages
  • Ensure all exterior Minto signage is displayed
  • Keeps Design Centre showroom clean, organized and tidy. Ensures samples are displayed properly and in correct locations.
  • Provide purchasers with tours of the showroom floor and introduces various products and upgrades
  • Explain contents of Minto Essentials Case to purchasers in accordance with PIPEDA
  • Have sound knowledge of Feature Schedule for each site, floor plans and understand how to use the price booklet
  • Assist guests with basic pricing questions, and knowing when to defer to the appropriate Design Consultant
  • Assist guests with colour consulting, be knowledgeable about current trends and styles, and value added features of Design Centre upgrades
  • Maintain front office coffee bar, including serving coffee and tea to customers
  • Ensure garbage is removed, glassware or dishes are placed in dishwasher
  • Become knowledgeable about the Design Centre process and be able to provide general information to purchasers
  • Contact purchasers to confirm scheduled appointments for the coming week
  • Communicate with Design Centre Manager regarding any issues that arise from weekend
  • Inform Design Centre Manager of replacement samples and showroom lighting as required
  • Other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by manager

Technical competencies:

Education: High School Education (College diploma in office administration is an asset)

Experience: Minimum of one to three (1-3) years’ construction customer service/administrative experience required; 1 year experience in a builder’s Design Centre preferred.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • SAP knowledge and/or experience would be an asset
