The Opportunity:


The Development Coordinator Summer Student / Co-op is responsible for supporting the Development Team by assisting with the coordination of development applications, investigating potential acquisitions, and researching/tracking relevant policy and industry trends.


What you’ll be responsible for day to day:  

  • Support Development Team in day-to-day project management of files at various stages of the development lifecycle, from acquisition through to registration and assumption;
  • Assist with the submission of complete development approval applications, including Official Plan Amendment, Plan of Subdivision, Zoning By-law Amendment, Site Plan Control, Committee of Adjustment and Condominium applications;
  • Assist with property acquisitions, including preparation of property research, planning reviews, property roll assessments, and proforma analysis.
  • Research and review new municipal planning initiatives and policies, Provincial Plan reviews and legislation reform, and guidelines, and coordinate team’s involvement in key issues;
  • Assist in the development of Minto’s internal GIS, such as reviewing and updating municipal and regional official plan maps;
  • Conduct site visits and attend key consultation meetings, as required;
  • Assist in the preparation and verification of market research;
  • Other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by management


Who we’re looking for:


Education:  Enrolled in a Post-secondary degree in Urban Planning, Real Estate, or related field, eligible Co-op student required.


Experience: Previous experience in a co-op placement or internship in real estate, urban planning or development considered an asset.


Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:


  • Microsoft Office, advanced knowledge of Excel an asset
  • Knowledge of development process
  • Knowledge of GIS and mapping tools
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Negotiation and mediation skills
  • Team player
  • Analytical, research and report writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
