Bring your expertise on to a new unit with the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to provide operational and business support for the sustainment of the Child Protection Information Network (CPIN) system used by Ontario’s children’s aid societies.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this position, you will:

  • Monitor and analyze business plans, and adjust business and operational plans as required.
  • Provide advice to senior management, ministry committees and program areas to support and

expedite results-based planning.

  • Develop results-based plans and operational plans related to core business of the ministry and corporate processes.
  • Monitor deliverables within program areas to identify performance measures and central agency reporting requirements.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

  • You have knowledge of and experience with business, strategic, financial planning and analysis related to performance measurement to assist in the development of the Results-based Plan and analyzing major business issues.
  • You have knowledge of reporting requirements to provide advice and ensure compliance with OPS and Ministry requirements.
  • You have in-depth project management knowledge to lead and provide guidance to teams in the operational planning process.

Interpersonal and Client Management Skills:

  • You have strong client management skills to provide advice and information and resolve issues with program areas and central agency staff.
  • You utilize developed negotiation and influencing skills to provide guidance and direction to management and staff, review submissions, and provide strategic advice on performance measures and resource allocation.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills to coordinate the preparation of business and operational plans while ensuring compliance to policies, processes and requirements.

Analytical Skills:

  • You have experience identifying opportunities for process improvements, and developing options and solutions based on ministry trends.
  • You use strong analytical skills to assess plan deliverables and issues, performance measures, impacts, and resource allocations to support ministry strategies and government priorities.
  • You have experience analyzing and reviewing briefing materials for content, completeness and accuracy.
  • You use analytical skills to resolve issues and discrepancies related to internal operations efficiently and effectively.

Oral and Written Communication Skills:

  • You have strong oral communication skills to present briefing notes and financial reports to senior management and program areas, and provide advice, guidance and recommendations to senior staff.
  • You use developed written communication skills to prepare reports, briefing notes and other documents using computer applications such as spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software.
