Position Overview
Our client in the public sector is seeking an Enterprise Architect for a one-year contract opportunity, with potential extension, to provide expertise and guidance in the identification, planning, delivery and ongoing enhancement of corporate solutions; ensuring alignment with the architecture, and advising on applications in development by the business units. The Enterprise Architect will:

  • Develop and Enterprise Architecture in collaboration with existing IT resources.
  • Provide consultation and guidance as required, relating to new and existing IT infrastructure, new and existing applications, projects and hardware solutions to ensure alignment with the standards already established.
  • Provide expertise and recommendations as required, in relation to TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) and TAFIM (Technical Architecture Framework for Information Management).

Responsibilities
The Enterprise Architect is required to:

  • Provide expertise in the development of information technology (IT) architecture in a number of domains.
  • Contribute to the planning, design, delivery, and implementation of architecture solutions as required, related to large scale, complex, multi-year IS & IT projects required to meet the critical business requirements of internal client(s).
  • Provide expertise in the development and application of TOGAF and TAFIM related frameworks.
  • Understand the definition and management of all architecture domains of the overall enterprise architecture (Business Architecture, Data Architecture, Application Architecture, etc).
  • Encourage the principles, models, standards, guidelines, and plans defined by enterprise architecture to both service business requirements and to reflect the current strategy of the organization.
  • Provide technical consulting services as required, to enable effective strategic decision making and project planning.
  • Assist, as needed, in the decision-making process for key architecture decisions.
  • Evaluate proposed future state technology and application architectures and assist in the finalization of them.
  • Assist in the creation of transition plans from the current state to the finalized future state architecture.
  • Assist with tasks as assigned by the Director and/or Manager of IT.
  • Perform requirement gathering and system analysis, architecture, design and development in accordance with priorities set by the division.
  • Based on current capabilities and available licensed solutions, the current and proposed applications, and stakeholder requirements, assist in the development of the architectures for a business intelligence solution and for inter-application integration.

Requirements
Candidates interested in this Enterprise Architect contract opportunity must have either a University Degree or a Diploma/Certificate and 9+ years of related experience. Additionally, experience with a corporate or public sector architecture of at least three our of the past five years is a mandatory requirement of this role. Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF, Gartner or Zachman in the last three out of five years is also a key requirement of this role. Current knowledge of the enterprise architecture trends, methodsm, and guidelines and related concepts for all six domains (Enterprise, Application, Business, Data, Security, and Technology Architecture) is required within three of the last five years of your professional experience as an Enterprise Architect.

Should you have experience with any of the following (in three of the past five years of professional experience), it would be considered an asset to the organization:

  • Experience with strategic, tactical, and operational planning related to enterprise architecture.
  • Experience in ICT project development, methodologies, frameworks, quality assurance, business system design.
  • Experience using advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience communicating with staff at all levels within an organization.
