I. BACKGROUND
Doctors of the World Canada (DoW) is an independent international voluntary movement working at home and abroad. Through innovative medical programs and evidenced-based advocacy we empower excluded people and communities to claim their right to health while fighting for universal access to healthcare.
Since 1996, DoW Canada, whose headquarters are in Montréal (Québec), is one of 15 independent DoW delegations worldwide. Since April 2018, in collaboration with a private sector financial partner, DoW is deploying a Mobile Health Clinic in the streets of Victoria supported by several community partners. The aim is to bring primary health care services to the most vulnerable population in Victoria.
In order to sustain its activities DoW seeks a consultant in British Columbia, from the end of July 2018, to March 31, 2019. This contract is renewable. The consultant will develop and lead a campaign to acquire major partnerships, more specifically with religious congregations, foundations, professional associations, unions and the private sector in Victoria and Vancouver. The fundraising strategy will aim to support DoW Canada domestic programs in Victoria and its humanitarian projects in Haiti.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Advisor – Partnership Development for Doctors of the World programs in Victoria – will be responsible for Major Gift solicitations in Victoria and Vancouver.
In the performance of his duties, this person will receive the unwavering support of the Executive director of Doctors of the world Canada and all members of the Executive Committee – He will also have the support of Senior Advisor – Partnerships Development – Doctors of the World Canada.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Contribute to defining and put in place a strategy and an action plan for soliciting major donations on its territory;
2. Generate income and ensure financial goals are achieved;
3. Develop and implement a loyalty and recognition plan for major donors;
4. Gather information, analyze and draw conclusions about the prospects to be solicited (Mission, profile, distribution of donation amounts, history and recurrence);
5. Maintain and develop a very close relationship with Telus, our major corporate partner in BC;
6. Develop and ensure the implementation of the material required for the different requests;
7. Develop and maintain communication links with partners and develop a relationship of trust;
8. Recommend new concepts and innovative approaches to soliciting major gifts;
9. Manage the budget according to established projections and ensure the effectiveness of the major gifts strategy;
10. Provide all required activity reports and information;
11. Maintain vigilance of best practices and programs in soliciting major donations;
12. Contribute to the development and implementation of the unique, creative, effective and equitable visibility plan to promote and attract the involvement of partners.
13. Ensure the respect of the clauses of all the contractual agreements to be signed between DoW and future partners;
14. Maintain a constant communication link between his direct supervisor.
Job requirements
 Undergraduate university degree in an appropriate discipline;
 Relevant experience of at least 5 years in a similar position;
 Knowledge of the Foundations and Religious Congregations in CB;
 Knowledge of the philanthropic and business community in BC;
 Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English;
 Bilingualism an asset;
 Excellent knowledge of the Office Suite
 Good knowledge of the various social media platforms;
 Good knowledge of the financing tools and strategies;
