Our client Imperial Oil is looking for a Materials Handling Engineer to join their Calgary Alberta team in support of the Kearl Expansion Project. This is a project based, full time contract position with our Agency supplying services to Imperial Oil.
The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with 7+ years of closely related professional engineering experience and 3+ years of which should be at the Senior Engineering level. A thorough and extensive knowledge of; Mechanical design, equipment design and operation, rotating equipment experience is desired. Well versed in Materials handling engineering principles, terories and concepts with an understanding of applicable codes, standards and trade practices. Must have a thorough knowledge and expert judgement in the selection and applicaiton of materials handling equipment and hardware.
JOB FUNCTION: The Materials Handling Engineer stewards all phases of materials handling systems engineering, including the design and procurement of dry material handling equipment for the project. They ensure that the Project’s requirements, as detailed in the Project Development Basis, specifications and other key technical documetns are carried out faithfully, and in a timely fashion. A key part of this role is contractor oversight of the design and package management of the equipment. He/she stewards the interfaces among the project team, Operations, Mining group, contractor and other disciplines. The goal is to ensure quality, delivery of a timely design and manage changes. The role will likely include follow-up engineerng to support construction, systems completions, startup and initial operational troubleshooting.
Responsibilities and duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
Provide overall materials handling engineering technical leadership and experitse; Steward the following types of equipment, including technical reviews and package management:
Crushers, Conveyors and Apron Feeders, Slurry Pumps, Mix Boxes and Hoppers, Material Handling Support equipment such as air compressors, chemical injection equipment, diesel and water equipment
As well Steward the contractor’s technical design activities with respect to materials handling engineering and system design including: Crushing Plant, Conveyor Syustems, Slurry Prep Tower, Hydro transport Piping, Support Utilities and General technical activities such as Material Handling Specifications, design reviews, etc.
They must also steward the FEED Cointractor’s project managmeent activities including: Schedule, progress and deliverable status; Management of engineering processes and procedures; Management of quality, including design reveiws and general QA and change management.
The ideal candidate would posses demonstrated leadership abilities and a working knowledge of ExxonMobil/Imperial Oil proprietary systems and proceedures.
