In this role, you will join a team that has set ambitious goals for the Centre for Continuing Education at McMaster University. McMaster’s highly-regarded Centre for Continuing Education provides high-calibre, for-credit and professional education for individuals and corporate clients, offering over 300 courses and professional development workshops and serving over 4000 students per year.

The Multi-Media Specialist will be responsible for contributing to the goals of both the marketing department and the online learning development group. Working with the Marketing Manager and Instructional Designers, the multi-media specialist will use their creative and technical skills to develop digital assets for various marketing initiatives and for use in online courses to support learning outcomes. The multi-media specialist will develop video, graphic, photographic and other digital assets. The multi-media specialist will also provide front-line support for the CCE website and liase with external vendors.

The Multi-Media specialist will demonstrate exceptional project management skills, and attention to detail, as well as superior communication and collaboration skills to manage multiple priorities. The multi-media specialist will rely on significant expertise in an extensive number of design software applications to perform their duties.
Purpose and Key Functions
Work collaboratively with instructional design team on online course delivery.
Responsible for the development of multimedia elements that support online course delivery.
Select and secure appropriate illustrative, photographic and sound materials.
Design and build graphical templates for online courses.
Provide advice and services related to the design, creation, and online delivery of digital media.
Provide creative input to online course developers to develop more innovative course materials.
Assist with the layout of materials and content, colour schemes, icons, and other visuals used in the course master shells for Avenue to Learn courses.
Edit digital photos.
Produce and edit video by sequencing images and sounds to optimize recordings.
Support and maintain the Department website including, but not limited to, ensuring continuity of information and modifying and updating content.
Create graphics for print and digital promotional materials.
Provide creative input to marketing and event coordination staff for promotional print and digital materials in accordance with established standards and branding guidelines.
Remain current with frequent changes to existing and emerging digital media services, applications, and technologies .
The following skills and knowledge are an asset for this position: Adobe Audition, Adobe Illustrator, Adoble Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Lightroom, Adoble Premier, Adobe Acrobat, Camtasia, expert Powerpoint/Word, After Effects, HTML 5, CSS,Bootstrap, Wireframes and Java Script, plus A2L Tools including Gradebook, Class lists, Announcements, Home Page Widgets, Discussion Board etc, AODA and WCAG. Familiarity with Apple Mac software and hardware as well as advanced education in multi-media are also assets. Advanced education in multi-media is also an asset (ie mutli-media degree).
