Uses a variety of equipment such as anesthesia equipment, autoclaves, microscopes, spectrophotometers, centrifuges, veterinary instruments and computers….
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, performs animal health related duties and technical procedures related to care and use of animals. Prepares animals and assists in surgical procedures. Administers treatment and medications. Provides pre- and post-operative care. Coordinates use of operating room and equipment. Acts as resource person. Maintains records. Maintains equipment.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Participates in projects and experiments. Participates in experimental and surgical procedures; participates in modification of protocols.
Discusses diagnosis and treatment with veterinarian. Administers medications and treatments. Collects samples and performs certain tests and analyses.
Updates and maintains standard operating procedures. Compiles and analyses data. Maintains records and prepares report. Prepares invoices for various services charged to clients.
Acts as resource person. Instructs others on procedures and operation of equipment. Provides technical guidance and assistance concerning work methods, the use of equipment and techniques, and the analysis of results.
Uses a variety of equipment such as anesthesia equipment, autoclaves, microscopes, spectrophotometers, centrifuges, veterinary instruments and computers.

Education & Experience:
DEC III (Animal Health Technology)
Three (3) years related experience
Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to handle and care for animals. Demonstrated ability to clearly transmit and receive information by email, phone and in person. Excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work in a computerized environment. Demonstrated ability to use word processing, databases and spreadsheets. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multitask. English and French spoken and written.
