McCain Foods (Canada) has an immediate opening for a Temporary Variety Development Coordinator (covering a 1 year Maternity Leave), based out of Florenceville, NB. Reporting to the Director of Global Variety Innovation, this position will work in collaboration with both internal and external partners to meet new variety research and commercial development requirements.
Establish or source a high quality seed supply of new varieties for research and commercial introduction
Work with North American Agronomy, field managers and cooperators to arrange for trial seed volumes and shipment. Assist agriculture team with securing of long term seed supply. Responsible for timely delivery of seed to all trial sites in North America
Ensure all disease sampling and testing requirements are met to allow shipment/use of seed in all intended jurisdictions
Work with Variety Development Specialist and McCain Foods NA to coordinate the design, execution and analysis of variety trials (plot, field, and storage) across North America.
Monitor and ensure compliance with all contract requirements or variety agreements with rights holders.
In cooperation with Agronomy prepare reports as required of the results of field, pilot plant and factory trials.
In cooperation with the Variety Development Specialist execute variety research activities of the Global Variety Development Program.
Plant,harvest and evaluate variety trials as required.
Participate in data reviews, sensory evaluations and pilot line studies with new varieties
Work with the
global regions to coordinate shipments of finished variety material for evaluation
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture or related field, along with experience in agricultural research
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem solving, decision-making and analytical skills.
Knowledge of experimental designs and advanced statistical analysis. Ability to produce and interpret charts and graphs
