LABORATORY ANALYST- INORGANIC PROCESSING LAB (FULL-TIME)

As a LABORATORY ANALYST , your main responsibilities are to:
Produce high quality defensible analytical data, safely and on time by following applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
Perform method and/or data validation.
Perform more complex sample preparation and analyses.
Understand analytical procedures and resolves issues.
Suggest and help in implementing production efficiencies.
Recommend solutions (technical/staffing), which will make the lab more effective and competitive.
Act as a positive change agent in supporting Maxxam’s new initiatives (operational and cultural).
Provide technical expertise and mentoring to junior staff to effect process changes.
Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample prep and analysis.
Review LIMS summary reports to prioritize daily workload for self and junior staff.
Provide input to corrective action procedures.
Provide support to ensure that instruments and equipment are maintained.
Participate in developing SOPs and general work instructions
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) when conducting the following work:
Perform sample preparation and procedures prior to analyses
Perform some basic testing procedures.
Identify any non-routine samples and seek guidance on procedures for handling.
Proactive in ensuring that consumable supplies are available in the lab.
Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.
Identify and communicate non-conformances to Supervisor.
Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabelling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials.
Adhere to Maxxam Code of Ethics Policy.
Support and comply with all Maxxam policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program.
Participates, when requested in lab and Health & Safety meetings.
Participates, when requested in internal and external audits.
Keep work area clean, neat and organized.
Provide general lab support to other departments as required.
Maintain training records and relevant qualifications.

You are the ideal LABORATORY ANALYST, if you have:
Post-secondary school education (B.Sc. preferred) or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated success in the role of Analyst, with one to three years of experience in related area of testing.
Accurately follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions.
Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills.
Detail-oriented and record keeping skills.
Assess problems and recommends solutions.
Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Adapts to a changing environment.
Works both independently and as part of a team.
Quick learner and willing to learn and continuously update skills and expertise through training.
Inspire, motivate and participate in building a strong team environment.
Proactive in resolving analytical and process problems.
Good judgment skills.
