LABORATORY ANALYST
FOOD RESIDUE Burnaby, BC

As a LABORATORY ANALYST, your main responsibilities are:
Performing sample analysis for drug residues in Food in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures and health and safety policies
Ensures a high level of accuracy in sample analysis
Ensures that instruments and equipment are appropriately maintained
Prioritizes daily workload and reviews LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work
Provides supervisor/manager with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays
Identifies and communicates non conformances to Supervisor, providing input to corrective action procedures
Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) when conducting analysis
Participates in developing SOP’s and general work instructions
Provides training and guidance to more junior staff
Meets quality and turnaround time (TAT) specifications required by the client
Develops and validates analytical test methods under the direction of Supervisors and Scientific Specialists
Adheres to Maxxam Code of Ethics Policy
Supports and complies with all Maxxam policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
Participates, when requested in lab and health and safety meetings
Participates, when requested in internal and external audits
Keeps work area clean, neat and organized
Provides general lab support
Maintains training records and relevant qualifications
All other responsibilities as assigned

You are the ideal LABORATORY ANALYST if you have:
Post secondary school education plus minimum 2 years of laboratory experience.
Knowledge of extraction techniques (i.e. SPE, liq-liq extractions) and operation of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, especially with respect to liquid chromatography with mass spec detection
Demonstrated experience with LCMSMS instrumentation and analysis including method troubleshooting and development
Experience with food matrices will be strongly preferred
Positive outlook with a ability to work in a fast paced environment
Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
Ability to adapt to a changing environment
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Detail orientated & record keeping skills
Ability to accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and instructions
Ability to learn quickly

Work Schedule:
Day shift
Either Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday
