  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Search.
  • Satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check.
  • Ability to travel within the province.

Essential:

  • Experience in research, development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Experience in interacting and building relationships with a variety of stakeholders including clients, members of the private bar, staff attorneys, senior management and professionals.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise, manage and build an effective team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize assignments and meet conflicting deadlines.

Desired:

  • Experience in an accounts payable role.
  • Knowledge of Legal Aid Manitoba application processes and related legislation, policies and procedures.

Duties:
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Labour Relations, this position is responsible for supervising, training and coordinating staff in the Legal Accounts Department which is responsible for auditing statements of account submitted by private bar and staff attorneys. The incumbent is responsible for assessing, developing, recommending and implementing legal account processes that include strong internal controls and audit practices.
