Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM), or the ability to obtain certificate within one year.
  • Must have valid class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Must have the ability to travel by air, land, and boat, and overnight in remote Northern locations.
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours.
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) Designation.


  • Experience working as a safety and risk management professional that involved establishing, implementing, and maintaining a safety and risk control program.
  • Management experience with strengths in leadership and supervision.
  • Experience in conducting and/or coordinating serious incident investigations.
  • Experience in conducting audits and inspections to assess program effectiveness and/or compliance and developing corrective action or risk managements strategies.
  • Experience working with or developing a quality assurance program, as well as ability to interpret acts, regulations, and standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of loss prevention/control and asset protection strategies.
  • Knowledge of Certificate of Recognition (COR) Program and auditing tools as well as broad knowledge of CSZ-Z1000-06 Occupational and Health and Safety Management System Standard.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with culturally diverse work teams and groups.
  • Analytical skills with the ability assess complex situations.
  • Facilitation and consultation skills and abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability prioritize tasks, projects, demands, and to work independently.

Reporting to the Director of Northern Airport and Marine Operations, the Safety and Risk Control Manager Position has a multi-role responsibility to facilitate compliance with Federal/Provincial regulations and standards and Manitoba governmental policies. The Safety and Risk Control Manager fulfills Federal requirements.

The Safety & Risk Control Manager applies their broad knowledge of the airport and marine industry, the general principles of airport and marine safety, and the Federal laws, regulations, and policies affecting airports and marine. In addition, the Safety and Risk Control Manger applies their intensive specialty technical knowledge to all areas of airport and marine operations.
