Selkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC) is looking for a Physiotherapist to join our team. SMHC is a 252 bed facility that provides long-term mental health inpatient treatment and rehabilitation services to residents of Manitoba.

Qualifications:
Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.

Must Provide a Satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check.

Must be a licensed member in good standing of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba.

Essential:
Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation of Physiotherapy.

Experience with patient assessment and planning processes and therapies.

Knowledge of best practice recommendations and issues related to acquired brain injury or geriatrics.

Strong verbal communication skills.

Effective written communication skills.

Good organizational skills.

Ability to model principles and practices of patient-centered care.

Ability to provide instructions and coaching to team members.

Ability to work co-operatively with interdisciplinary team members.

Desired:
Experience working in the field of Acquired Brain Injury.

Duties:
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Physiotherapist is responsible for physical therapy treatment and programming for patients at SMHC. This includes ongoing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of physical therapy strategies/interventions in promoting the rehabilitation of persons with psychiatric illness, physical disabilities, and/or acquired brain injury. Incumbent is responsible for the supervision of volunteers/students working with them. The incumbent provides regular instruction, support, coaching, and professional leadership to patient/staff/families implementing physical therapy strategies/interventions and demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the SMHC including a strong commitment to patient safety.
