POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Shared Services Business Unit Leader, the Business Solutions Architect is responsible for architectural and technical oversight of a Shared Services computing environment including the development of recommendations to improve quality. The incumbent will work closely with support vendors, including application maintenance and support, regarding the architectural and technical implications of incident resolutions or CPS changes, for both application and infrastructure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for architectural and technical oversight of a Shared Services computing environment and the development of recommendations to improve quality;
  • Works closely with support vendors, provides Claims Processing Solution (CPS) Shared Services input and guidance into capacity, performance and availability management including the implementation of appropriate systems monitoring tools;
  • Leads Shared Services and overall CPS technical assessment, design and planning activities for systems changes and enhancements; interlocks as required with application maintenance and support team;
  • Responsible for working with business team(s) to coordinate and define MBC business requirements and to translate these into technical (CPS system and SAP) specifications;
  • Communicates CPS system and application requirements and or issues at a detailed and summary level to Managed Services and Application Support & Maintenance teams;
  • Dialogues with CPS support teams (application and infrastructure), business process owner or business process teams regarding complex or unusual situations or requirements;
  • Makes development recommendations after evaluating the pros and cons of multiple alternatives, and defines and describes the proposed solution in both business and system terms;
  • Provides guidance to the business on multiple application development options that might be identified and proposed by the application support team;
  • Understands and explains the configuration options available within our systems;
  • Understands multiple functional areas of the SAP solution and the integration between those functional areas;
  • Understands and embraces CPS SAP solution including business and SAP solution strategic direction;
  • Provides flow diagrams, entity relationships, mapping and table definitions to support the implementation project; and
  • Performs special assignments and other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Dedicated to the principles of exceptional service; committed to responding to, anticipating and addressing customer needs, for both internal and external customers.
  • University degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related area and a minimum of seven to 10 year’s related experience. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Expert level IT Infrastructure Architect (Server, Storage, Networking. experienced in multi-tier distributed client/server architecture; understanding of and experienced with VMWare ESX virtualized platforms, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server, ORACLE DBMS, HP and EMC; SAP System Design & Technical Architecture (NetWeaver, Solution Manager, SAPGUI etc).
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Foundation Level or above ITIL Certification, SAP Certifications (Enterprise Architect, Project Manager, Technical Associate and Insurance Claims Management). Master IT Architect, and/or formal training in the area of architectural design and common industry frameworks (TOGAF, EACOE, etc).
  • Strong problem solving / analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to deal with all levels within the organization in a team environment.
  • Self-directed, with exceptional organizational skills and a proven record of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks within varied and dynamic timelines on an ongoing basis.
  • Effective communicator with strong verbal, written and documentation skills and have the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Excellent facilitation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of Customer Relationship Management.
  • Exercises judgment, tact and discretion when handling confidential corporate records.
  • Ability to apply leadership and influencing skills to business and IT decision-making.
  • Ability to navigate and build strong relationships in a large, complex organization.
  • Independent self-starter, with proven ability to identify issues and propose/execute solutions to complex situations, manage projects and drive contract execution to conclusion.
  • Experience working with cross-departmental teams to achieve company objectives.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must have the ability to work during off hours, as well as weekends, as required.
