Make Poverty History (MPH) is a coalition of civil society organizations working for the eradication of both domestic and international poverty. We are seeking to hire an intern to work in conjunction with the MPH Managing Officer to support our online campaigns and help maintain a strong social media presence. This is an excellent opportunity for a social-media-savvy university student or recent graduate to gain unique and valuable experience with a national poverty eradication campaign, connect with NGOs in the development sector and hone their social media skills for advocacy work.

Position Type: Part-time (approximately 10 hours/month)

Length of Position: 6 months (until September 2015) with the possibility of extension

Salary/Compensation: $100/month

Duties Include:
Day-to-day management of MPH’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube
Making updates to the MPH website as needed
Monitoring media outlets for mentions of Make Poverty History Canada or issues of domestic/international poverty relevant to Make Poverty History’s campaigns
Creation of email blasts for online MPH campaigns and reporting back on the metrics and success of these campaigns

Essential Qualifications:
Experience using social media platforms: Hootesuite, Twitter, Facebook, etc
Knowledge of domestic/international poverty issues
Proven communication skills, particularly writing.
Excellent organizational/time management skills
Self-starter and team player

Asset Qualifications:
Bilingual (English/French)
Experience in advocacy, lobbying, or influencing work in Canada
