Mackenzie Investments is currently accepting applications for the position of Financial Analyst, Fund Taxation and Distributions in the Fund Taxation Department. Reporting to the AVP of Fund Taxation, the Financial Analyst works independently to ensure all tax compliance and monthly, quarterly and annual fund reporting requirements for Mackenzie and Investors Group funds are fulfilled. The Financial Analyst is responsible for accurate and timely reporting such as:

  • Calculating annual and periodic fund distribution and estimates
  • Preparing trust, corporate, charity, partnership and commodity tax returns, as well as foreign jurisdiction tax reporting
  • Preparing monthly tax packages and supporting working papers for mutual fund corporations
  • Updating and monitoring income trust distribution allocation and tax treatment
  • Analysis for product initiatives such as mergers, rebalancing, and various ad hoc requests
  • Reconciling of various tax slip filings with the government
  • Documenting and reviewing internal control policies and procedures, and recommending and implementing process and system improvements when necessary

To carry out these responsibilities, the following qualifications are required:

  • Undergraduate accounting, finance or equivalent degree and enrollment in the CGA/CMA program is preferred
  • Demonstrated tax or accounting experience in the investment fund industry
  • Ability to work independently, as well as a team player
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Advance computer skills, including expert proficiency in excel and other office products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of tax preparation software and MPower is beneficial
  • Willingness to learn new reporting systems and seek advancements / improvements in existing processes
