We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our finance and accounting team for a 6-month assignment. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis, the Financial Analyst will play an important role in the financial analysis and reporting function. Responsibilities include financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, sales support and Business Area consolidated reporting for senior management. Financial model development and financial analysis are also key elements of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in preparing Business Area consolidation of monthly revenue, margin, department expenses and order booking forecasts for senior management, including analysis of variances to budgets and forecasts;
  • Supporting internal Sales department with financial information as required;
  • Developing and improving financial models to report and analyze profitability, revenue backlog, and order bookings;
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of the business area’s annual and mid-year budgets, and monthly financial forecasts including reports for revenue, earnings, and order bookings;
  • Completion of various financial reports/surveys (e.g. Stats Canada);
  • Providing ad hoc reports and financial analyses for management as required;
  • Assisting with special projects as required.
  • Requirements (experience/skills):

    • University degree in Finance/Business, ideally along with or working towards a professional accounting designation;
    • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in the high-tech industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
    • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, specifically advanced Excel spreadsheet solutions;
    • Excellent communication and organization skills;
    • Ability to work in a fast changing environment, with all levels of management;
    • Experience with BaaN or other sophisticated ERP system an asset.
