The Book Keeper/Finance Lead reports to the Executive Director and liaises with the Board Treasurer as required. This role is responsible for the financial accounting, and corporate reporting (GST, charitable returns, corporate filings) of the organization. The Book Keeper/Finance contributes financial expertise to business plan development based on Strategic Plan Framework priorities. The Book Keeper/Finance Lead works closely with Lougheed House team members to gain understanding of Lougheed House’s strategic and program objectives in order to effectively manage and develop project and operational budgets.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Budgeting and forecasting
Financial analysis and reporting
Full cycle accounting, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
Payroll and benefits administration
Banking and investment management
Liaise with auditors, and coordinate annual external audit
Corporate reporting relations (including government, donor and grant reporting compliances)
Works closely with the Executive Director to compile the annual operating budget
Works with the Board, staff, donors and volunteers as required.

Employment and Education Experience:
A post-secondary degree in business, accounting, or a related field, or a professionally recognized accounting designation (CMA, CGA or CA), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
A minimum 5 years financial management experience (preferably with non-profits) and possesses a high degree of technical expertise in accounting and financial management
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Excellent computer skills, including experience and proficiency with Simply Accounting Pro and Microsoft Office Suite, is a requirement
Ability to work with close attention to detail and to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; excellent time-management, problem prevention and problem-solving skills
Ability to follow through and meet deadlines while coordinating current and long range projects simultaneously
Outstanding communication and team building skills
Ability to represent Lougheed House with a high level of integrity and professionalism, adhere to museum policies and support management decisions in a positive, professional manner
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with colleagues, the Board, auditors, contractors, the public, Lougheed House stakeholders, donors, and volunteers
Comfortable working in a fast paced, team oriented environment, and independently
Physical Requirements:
Periodically lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Climb stairs.
Sit for long periods of time.
Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch.
Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects.
