Job Summary

Under the direction of the Principal, the Coordinator will provide leadership to our International Student Program.The Coordinator will be responsible to research, develop, market, implement, administer and evaluate a full range of international student programs, support services and activities that enhance the educational and social experiences of international students in our school division.The successful applicant will be required to travel and work variable hours, including nights and weekends. This is a 12 month, renewable contract. Annual salary at the entry level is $58,500.

Responsibilities and Duties

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Market the program domestically and abroad. Develop marketing strategies and materials. Represent the Division’s International Student Program locally and internationally.

- Public relations spokesperson during international recruitment activities and liaison with government agencies,embassies, and would-wide International Education organizations. Develop community outreach initiatives.

- Negotiate agreements and manage application and admission processes, fee collection, budget, and student placements.

- Provide leadership to the development of international school partnerships, the division’s international protocols, and strategies.

- Supervise and evaluate International Student Program support staff.

- Act as liaison with school administration to implement student and school programming supports to the International Student Program (e.g. EAL, curricular programming, international credit validations).

- Develop, implement, and administer all aspects of the Homestay program.

- Will assume custodial responsibilities of the majority of international students on behalf of the division and will make critical decisions in a crisis and/or emergency situation.

- Travel locally, nationally and internationally as required.

- Respond to and resolve crisis or emergency situations for international students that occur outside the regular school day.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications:

- A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is an asset.

- Experience and knowledge in the field of International Education.

- Administrative experience in the public school system is an asset.

- A valid class 5 driver’s license and legally licensed vehicle is required.Skills and Abilities:

- Adaptable and able to balance multiple demands from students, parents, school and division representatives.

- The ability to speak another language is an asset.

- Able to learn quickly and work in a changing and demanding environment.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in a cross cultural setting.

- Able to respond to urgent situations on short notice.

- Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to cross cultural issues.

- Demonstrated ability to keep matters confidential.

- Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, marketing and negotiating programs.

- Able to organize appropriate social activities for international students.

- Excellent computer skills, in particular skilled at document creation, databases, internet, and social media.

- Well-developed knowledge of the communities in the division including recreational activities and facilities.

Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check will be required.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
