Coordinates training and development programs and initiatives in support of customer needs and organizational goals. Assists in the planning, execution and tracking of technical and professional programs. Assists in the creation and management of courses and their integration into the corporate Learning Management System (LMS). This includes hands-on development of curriculum, providing technical guidance to course content owners and delivering technical training in related trades and manufacturing skills. Position will identify opportunities to share curriculum and resources within the organization. Prepares lesson plans, class materials and course control documentation. Delivers technical training as required. Will monitor and forecast training needs based on learning plan requirements as needed.

A key focus area will be working with manufacturing skills/Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) training in support of production operations. This will require providing both knowledge and performance based instruction in different aviation skill sets (e.g., torque tools, safety wiring and cotter keys, standard practices, engine familiarization, aviation regulations, quality standards) and other courses as required to meet production and program needs. Focus will also require working with technical training in support of technical operations to identify training development needs and resources to support those needs. This position has daily interface with employees, managers and co-workers and will require good problem solving and communication skills. This is a team environment with both local and virtual team responsibilities.

Specific Job Description

Under the supervision of the training manager, the selected candidate will lead the training program and manage qualifications for approximately 300 engine shop technicians and will support the training program for ESH, quality and other departments requiring training. This includes the proactive identification of training needs (needs assessment), reactive training (lessons learned), on-the-job training management and coordination and some course delivery of the training program.

Duties/responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver training
  • Ensure that all processes relating to the training needs are met; organize training events and reserve training rooms and equipment
  • Coordinate all materials and resources necessary to ensure training needs are met
  • Ensure proper coordination of planning, trainers, invitations, etc.
  • Coordinate with finance relevant training subsides (government) and ensure these are attributed accordingly
  • Gather and analyze yearly training needs and identify the training that needs to be provided in line with Lockheed Martin Commercial Engine Solutions (LMCES) objectives
  • Implement document process (following ISO 9001 and AS9110) and ensure security and accuracy of training files
  • Liaise with San Antonio training centre to ensure documentation standardization and training resource utilisation optimization
  • Conduct business training needs assessment and keep technical training program up-to-date
  • Lead and own the onboarding process
  • Control and develop various training matrices
  • Respond to and participate in all training department audits
  • Supporting various departments in identifying training and competence requirements for new product
  • Maintain on-the-job training and log book program for all personnel
  • Oversee the successful completion of scheduled training activity
  • Perform administration tasks pertaining to the coordination of the LMCES Training Program

Basic Qualifications & Desired Skills

Qualifications/experience:

  • Minimum five years’ experience as trainer or lead experience
  • Diploma in a technical field related to an aviation Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) setting or a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field
  • Broad knowledge of and experience in industrial-based skills, ESH regulations and aviation regulations and requirements
  • Aviation technical experience
  • Instructional techniques
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Organized, demonstrates initiative
  • Able to focus on the development of others
  • Proficient in French and English
