Our team at Local Food Tours is looking to fill the position of part-time Operations Assistant! We are a young, dynamic team, working out of a beautiful open concept office in the Mile End. Our mission? To help visitors and curious locals discover Montreal’s rich culture, history, and especially… its best food and beer! We do this by creating walking tours in our favourite neighbourhoods, and we need your help to make that possible!

What we are looking for:

An operations assistant who will be responsible for managing customer phone calls and emails, making phone calls to our partners to give them the orders for the day, and related administrative tasks. The company operates 7 days a week and the Operations Manager must be available to work between 9:00AM to 4:00pm and accommodate weekend shifts. The position is part time and seasonal, 3-4 days a week depending on the month.

Operations Manager responsibilities include:

  • Prepare for daily tours. This means gathering data from excel documents and ticketing software, then communicating this detailed information to our tour partners (restaurants and bars) by phone, email, and text (headcounts of tours, arrival times, changes)
  • Maintain positive relationships with our vendors, be their point of contact for any day to day operational issues
  • Provide support to tour guides during their tours (phone, text, email)
  • Answer phone calls and emails from guests
  • Respond to and handle time sensitive issues on the day of the tour
  • Create and send weekly reports to vendors using excel
  • Manage our inventory of goods: keeping count, managing orders, occasional deliveries, coordinating deliveries
  • Be responsible to keep company documents and data up to date
  • Other duties as required


  • Must be very self-motivated and excel in a rapidly-changing environment
  • Extremely strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to think quickly, be able to handle emergency situations in a calm and effective manner
  • Good with people, pleasant on the phone
  • Strong knowledge of Montreal: geographical layout, food scene, neighbourhoods
  • Comfortable learning new software and programs
  • Ability to multitask various duties at once
  • Ability to prioritize needs accurately
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule
  • Good time management
  • Strong communication skills


  • English and French, written and spoken. Most of our customers are English-speaking, but our office staff, partners, vendors, and some customers are French-speaking. Bilingualism a must.
  • Strong grammar skills and professional email etiquette a must
  • Experience with Google Drive, Gmail, Word, Excel (basic)
  • Customer service experience


Experience in the tourism or hospitality industry considered a plus. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a flexible attitude and a willingness to jump in to assist with tasks as needed and directed.

Schedule and pay:

April: Friday, Saturday, SundayMay to October: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday

10am to 4pm approximately, may change slightly

Compensation is 15$ per hour

Position would begin March 30th.
