The FM provides financial administrative advisory services and other general technical assistance to the Finance Department, Executive Director, Management and Chief and Council. To implement year-end audit compliance issues and set up internal controls that will address any organizational planning issues. Aslo, the FM will work closely with the Executive Director on providing financial management policies concurrent and acceptable to Fenerally Accepted Accountiing Principles, along with organizational budgeting exercises consistent with fund accounting principles.

To provide continous development and implementation of financial policies, systems adn procedures;

to provide assistance and direction on accurate and timely preparation of monthly and annua financial statements;

in cooperation with the Executive Director, will engage in financial planning, annual budgeting forecasting, cash-flow projections and cash management;

Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and procurement;

Provide comprehensive financial support. guidance and analysis to senior management, the Executive Director and Chief and Council. including the evaluation of proprosal capital expenditures, financial viability of new ventures and negotiating bank financing;

Assist the Financial officer to resolving accounting and financial problems and issues.

Ensure proper preparation for annual financial audit; and

Evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting procedures and investment activities for the band and all it legal entities ( i.e ., Tano T’enneh LLP)

Education and Experience

Experience with Simply Accounting software is a requirement.

A minimum C.A , C.G.A , or C.A.F.M . designation combined with at least three (3) to five (5) years of related senior finance and mnagement experience;

Demonstrated strong strategic planning skill and ability to ensure best practices are utilized;

Good working knowledge of government funding processes and reporting. The ability to work with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development (AANDC) is essential.

Significant expertise and experience in computerized accounting systems;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective networks and relationship skills, management and supervisory experience : and

Must be willing to undergo a criminal records search
