You are a subject matter expert in Engineering who has worked to meet client needs on large construction projects. You are responsible for ensuring adherence to the Engineering Drawings and Specifications applicable to a project, while ensuring on time completion of the scope of work.

Responsibilities
Ensures that the Front Line Supervisors have the required drawings, specifications and other requirements to construct the work
Provides technical interpretation and / or reviews Requests for Information prior to distribution for construction
Develops, seeks approval and coordinates work schedules with critical planning activities including creek crossings, horizontal directional drills, hydrostatic testing, caliper & inhibitor activities to ensure that objectives of safety, quality, cost and schedule are met
Ensure that the level of workmanship meets or exceeds the engineering requirements of the Specifications and Drawings provided by the Client
Ensures that QA/QC records are kept in accordance to the contract documents, and a document control procedure is implemented and followed on the project site
Works closely with the Field Engineer & survey crews to ensure layout, alignment and collection of data is timely and accurate for the field construction crews
Creates and submits progress, technical reports and presentations
Supports the Project Manager and Superintendent in assessing the cost and schedule implications which may result from design changes
Manages any required engineering testing, such as: compaction, pile driving, ice thickness, weld, coat, concrete as required by the Contract documents
Liaise with various functional groups to ensure materials are procured, ordered, and delivered on schedule
May perform other related duties as required
Requirements
Completion of post-secondary education in a Mechanical or Civil Engineering related discipline
10+ years of related experience on a large (+50 million dollar) multi-trade project site
5+ years’ experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar direct managerial supervisory role
Able to read and understand contract and construction documents
Strong computer background including experience with MS Word and Excel and scheduling software
Strong communication skills, confident interacting with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic form
Knowledge of main construction office processes: project set up; subcontract management; change orders; RFIs (request for information); lien holdbacks; closeout
Capable of responding to project stakeholder requests in typical situations, and works to meet client needs by offering assistance and advice on standard practical issues
Ability to identify problems, make sound decisions, and generate solutions using standard procedures
Capable of probing and listening carefully, presents information clearly in an appropriate style, and persuades others in straightforward situations
Willingness to contribute actively in team activities, sharing experiences and ideas
Familiar with oil & gas systems and in particular pipeline construction & maintenance methodology and practices
In depth knowledge of CSA Z662 Oil & Gas Pipeline Systems code
Work Conditions
Site based position
6 days on/1 day off shift rotation working 12 hours per day
