The Ground Test Engineer:
Be responsible for leading, coordinating and performing system test associated with aircraft modernization and maintenance for avionics and mission systems upgrades and high flight hour inspections on the F/A-18 A-B-C-D aircraft while meeting cost and schedule expectations.
Tasking includes providing technical support to the L-3 Team for developing Test Plans and Test Procedures, performing System Operation and Verification Test (SOVT) for avionics, communications, including cockpit systems, special mission systems, and navigation equipment and performing incoming and delivery engine run operations in preparation of the FCF.
Required Technical skills include proficiency in the use of common and advanced test equipment and strong system trouble shooting skills specific to the F/A-18 A-B-C-D aircraft. Additionally, recent qualification and experience in performing F/A-18 engine run operations is required.
Candidate will be trained to remove, handle, store and install classified equipment.
Must interface well with other disciplines, to include the F-18 production team personnel, leadership and our valued customers to include the aircrew and local DCMA.
Must be present at aircraft induction and delivery meetings with our team members and Navy aircrews.
Team member must maintain the highest ethical standard for them self and others.
Other duties as assigned.
Travel required primarily within the U.S or Canada.
The primary work location is Mirabel, Quebec (Canada).
H/S or GED and a minimum of 4 years of F-18 platform experience.
F-18 aircraft systems experience is required to include avionics and prior engine turn certification.
Must possess a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must possess a valid U.S. passport.
Must understand basic electrical theory, electronic test equipment (digital voltmeter, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, RF power meters, network analyzers) and their applied use in testing of RF systems and mixed signal products.
Must be familiar with handling U.S. Government classified material.
Must be capable of reading and interpreting block diagrams, wire diagrams, and circuit schematics to isolate component malfunctions and be proficient in utilizing the NAVAIR maintenance and flight manuals.
Must have functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Must be able to travel as required.
Must be able to work any shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
