Full-Time Job Developer
Summary:
Kiwassa Neighbourhood House, a multi-service non-profit community agency working in East Vancouver, is seeking an energetic and experienced Job Developer to provide services to unemployed community members who have barriers to employment. This is a full time position for one year, with the possibility of extension.
Duties include:
Accept referrals from Kiwassa’s WORK BC Case Managers
Teach job search skills and labour market research topics, in groups and one to one,
Help participants create individualized job search action plans; provide ongoing coaching,
Assist participants in labour market research and preparations for training applications,
Initiate and maintain ongoing contacts with a variety of business, industry and agency representatives; create connections and networking opportunities,
Develop job leads and market participants to potential employers; locate work placement openings for participants; do follow up on placements to facilitate participant success,
Work collaboratively with staff from partner agencies
Administer and track participant supports for training, work experiences and job start,
Provide participant and program activity information reports
Complete documentation required by gov’t policy for services provided.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in employment counselling, social work or related field
Three years experience in job development / employer marketing and placement monitoring
Minimum 2 years experience working with individuals with multiple barriers to employment
Minimum 3 years’ experience in facilitating experiential focused learning on job search and job keeping related topics, both individually and in group
Proven ability to use empathetic and non-judgemental approach to participant’s challenges while setting clear expectations and developing participant accountability
Experience in assisting clients in applying for government funded training
Strong knowledge of local labour market information and research methods
Strong administrative and organizational skills, documentation skills and time management
Effective verbal and written communication skills, and proficient computer skills.
Experience using Integrated Case Management System an asset
