Financial Analyst, Payroll
Full-Time Position, Days; BCII-06 ($67,543.69 – $82,553.53 per annum)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to a Supervisor, Payroll, this role provides dedicated support to Payroll, by providing financial problem solving, analyses and reports on a variety of hospital payroll related issues

Within this role the employee is accountable for contributing to the delivery of the Kingston General Hospital strategy. As an employee, one must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for actively promoting and supporting patient and family centered engagement and care in all we do.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Employing analytical techniques and a professional knowledge base provides financial and/ or statistical problem solving, analyses and reports on a variety of hospital financial management issues accurately and in a timely fashion as it relates Payroll .
• Researches and interprets reporting requirements; audit compliance to those requirements; identify resulting issues and possible resolutions.
• Manages competing priorities within defined timeframes to ensure avoidance of financial consequences to the hospital for failure to achieve.
• Develops payroll management support tools such as Excel spreadsheets and recommendation/development/implementation on system enhancements/interfaces that directly impact workload (i.e. SAP)
• Collaborates with stakeholders to improve or development reporting/analysis tools and explore and implement process improvements.
• May be called upon to provide performance management of union staff in the absence of the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate Degree in Business, Human Resources or an equivalent program.
• Currently hold or working towards accounting designation (CPA/CGA) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM)
• At least 5 years of expertise and/or experience working within payroll operation in a medium to large sized organization.
• Experience working in an integrated financial software environment an asset.
• At least 5 years of expertise and/or experience working within payroll operation in a medium to large sized organization.
• Experience working in an integrated financial software environment an asset.
• Knowledge of budgeting and variance analysis
• Knowledge of MIS reporting requirements
• Working knowledge of CICA (Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants) standards for not for profit accounting.
• Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check Required
