Located in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, KRRC serves youth and adults with intellectual, physical, behavioral, psychological, and/or psychiatric disabilities. This position is currently available in Waterville, Nova Scotia.
Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer, this position as a member of the Senior Leadership team, ensures the Plant and Environmental Services Program establishes and achieves program goals and objectives consistent with the mission, vision and philosophy of Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre (KRRC). The Director must develop and manage maintenance programs of the Centre’s facilities, grounds, equipment, and vehicles and ensures physical plant safety for the program.
This role collaborates with Senior Leadership to develop a Human Resources Plan for the program and implements the approved Human Resource Plan by recruiting and hiring employees, evaluating performance, discipline and termination in accordance with approved employment policies and legislation. Also
, in collaborate with Senior Leadership and Finance, in the development of an annual operational budget and is responsible to monitor the financial status of the program.
Acting as the Fire and Safety Officer, is responsible for the Emergency Response Plan, Investigates and reports issues regarding WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, MSDS, and other related matters and Co-Chair of the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee.
The successful candidate will have the following:
Bachelors Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Project Management, Business Management, Construction Management or related
At least 5 to 10 years of related management experience in developing, implementing and coordinating teams is required
Proven skills in Project Management are required
Experience and a working knowledge of a trade, such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, etc. is a strong asset
Demonstrated experience in boiler operations, preventative maintenance programs, and laundry is an asset
Possesses analytical and critical thinking skills that enhance problem solving and decision-making and ability to make decisions which are of a critical nature and which demonstrate excellent judgment ability
Demonstrates creativity and flexibility in approaching issues/concerns and implements best practices
Promote and enhance relationship building and the ability to share knowledge and develop the potential in others
Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Has the ability to be self-directed and self-motivated
Possess strong computer skills; proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and preventative maintenance computerization is a requirement
Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning
Demonstrates commitment to the organization’s strategic direction and to the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and DSP Transformation
