TEMPORARY – PART TIME 1 year contract

Under the supervision of the Associate director of the Renewable Resources, Environment, Lands and Parks Department, the Nunavik Inuit Research Advisor’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Promoting Nunavik interests, needs and concerns to researchers within Arctic Net and the Northern Contaminants Program;
• Providing assistance to researchers in communicating project goals and results back to communities;
• Identifying opportunities to involve students and youth in research programs, education and job development opportunities;
• Maintaining an accurate report of research proposals and projects taking place in Nunavik and develop methods for distributing this information;
• Composing and maintain up-to-date lists of environmental, health and science contacts for the Nunavik region and communities;
• Participating in monthly, bi-annual and scientific meetings with ITK, ICC, Arctic Net, and NCP representatives;
• Composing quarterly and annual activity reports.


• College diploma, or equivalent;
• Able to communicate verbally and in writing in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut and English or French;
• Strong communication skills and able to work independently as well as with others;
• Basic computer skills in a Microsoft environment;
• Experience in preparation of documents;
• Be reliable, conscientious and able to work well without close supervision;
• Willing to travel in Nunavik and Canada.

• Good planning, organizing and follow-up skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Kuujjuaq / Nunavik
(Calculated on a pro rata basis)


Minimum: $34 778/year – Maximum: $58 543/year (Class 7)

Other benefits:

Cost of living differential: Minimum of $8 500/year
Food allowance: Minimum of $3 453/year
Annual leave trips: Minimum of 3
Simplified Pension Plan: 6% employer, 4% employee
