Job Description

The objective of the Junior Systems Administrator role is to assist more experienced System Administrators in ensuring the continuous operations of SharpSchool’s production systems. The Junior Systems Administrator will be a key participant of a high performance team responsible for analyzing infrastructure, maintaining, implementing and providing technical and operational support in network and application systems. Expertise ranges from Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and writing scripts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform new hardware and Windows OS installations, patching and upgrades
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot Tier 1 technical support requests
  • Manage active directory users and computers
  • Support applications including major latest versions of Windows Operating systems Server and workstation, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange
  • Document procedures for system administration activities
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, result oriented and team building skills are essential
  • Have excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation

Expected Education and Experience

  • Minimum 2 year diploma in computer-related field
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a Systems Administrator or related position.
  • Relevant certifications for systems and network management on Windows platform are a strong asset

Qualifications

  • A solid understanding of server, network, and desktop infrastructure
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good at time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrated experience with the following will be considered an asset:
  • Windows Server, Active Directory, Failover Clustering
  • IIS Web Servers
  • Microsoft SQL Server Database
  • Exchange Server
  • Ideal candidate would live within close proximity to our downtown Toronto location
