Our client owns and operates a multi-venue establishment, which includes a restaurant/ lounge, event functions and catering services in one large facility. This business prides themselves on their high-end high-volume food & beverage operation, as well as their other successful operations within this company. Due to continuing growth, they are currently in need of a Canteen Manager for their St. John’s, NL location.

Responsibilities:

• Develops and maintains a positive relationship with guests and staff
• Responsible for working shifts and covering missed shifts
• Works closely with Events Coordinator to coordinate and communicate requirements for events
• Oversees the service in both canteens and beverage cart
• Assigns and instructs staff regarding duties and requirements for special events
• Maintains proper operation of POS
• Responsible for scheduling of staff
• Deals with guest concerns effectively
• Hiring and training of new employees
• Maintains budgeted labour, beverage and other costs
• Maintains inventory and performs ordering functions
• Completes month end inventory and ensures beverage levels are maintained
• Committed to safety , including adherence to food safety regulation, hygiene and cleanliness
• Ensures compliance to relevant legislative requirements

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years in a similar serving capacity
• Minimum 1 year supervisory experience
• Self-motivated team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-functional team environment
• Must have access to own transportation
• An equivalent combination of work experience and education will be considered
• Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
• Superior customer service skills / guest service focused
• Positive attitude and friendly personality is essential
• Ability to represent the organization with a professional image
• Excellent communication skills, both in person, through emails, and over the phone
• Excellent time management skills and multitasking ability
• Progressive people management skills

This seasonal position, with potential for extension to year round employment for the right candidate, offers a competitive base wage rate plus excellent additional earnings through gratuities.
