About the Opportunities
Currently, Johnston Equipment has several Mechanics opportunities available in Calgary and Edmonton, AB.
In this front-line role, you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of Raymond/BT and Brand X lift trucks as well as for all related ordering and invoicing, customer relations and van maintenance and parts inventory.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Diagnosing and repairing primarily electrical lift trucks;
Performing scheduled maintenance work;
Maintaining the mechanical and physical condition of service equipment;
Travelling using in-service vehicle from job site to job site;
Managing van parts inventory; and
Maintaining customer’s equipment in a cost-effective manner.
To qualify for this role, it is essential that you have a high school diploma and two to five years of automotive or forklift experience. An automotive certificate/designation will be considered an asset.
An aptitude for all things mechanical and electrical along with proficiency in information technology will make you an ideal candidate for this role. You will be familiar with examining the overall operational integrity and condition of trucks, and you must have a keen eye for identifying defective or worn out mechanical/electrical parts. We expect that you will proactively update your qualifications as technology changes.
Using your engaging communication skills, you must be able to easily and effectively discuss the next steps for repair solutions with customers. Time management, analytical and problem-solving skills will also be essential to this role, as will the ability to demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency when required.
