Job Search Workshop (JSW) Facilitator/Assessor

Newcomer Services and Programs

Part-Time (17.5 Hours /Week)

What we need : A positive, client-oriented individual who:

  • Is inspired by helping recent immigrants achieve their employment goals
  • Has demonstrated experience in Communication, Needs Assessment, Job Search Workshop Facilitation, Coaching,
  • Certification in Job Search Workshop Program Facilitation, Common Assessment Training Level 1 & II, Level B Certified in the delivery of employability assessments.
  • Has excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and problem solve
  • Will be able to assist newcomer clients in all of the employability dimensions
  • Has Post-secondary education preferably in Career and Work Counseling, Adult Education and/or a combination of education and relevant work related experience
  • Is demonstrably proficient in English (proficiency in a second language is considered an asset)
  • Has intermediate proficiency in MS Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access

What you will do : Support Job Skills’ Newcomer Services and Programs by:

  • Performing needs assessments identifying barriers to employment and providing client orientation to programs and services within the Welcome Centres and York Region.
  • Researching and compiling labour market and job search information relevant to the client base you are serving
  • Facilitating JSW Module 1 and Module 2 workshops in a computerized environment including one-on-one coaching sessions
  • Working collaboratively with clients using the ACEC model to develop an action plan, referring clients to additional supports as required and following up to mentor and offer support
  • Liaising with Case Managers, Settlement, Accreditation, Language and Employment Settlement Specialists within the Welcome Centres and other agencies on mutual clients to facilitate clients’ integration into the Canadian workplace
  • Maintain all relevant documentation and administrative duties working in several databases.
