Youth Worker(s) ~ Six Positions

Summary:
To develop and deliver an intensive summer workshop/mentor-ship series for youth (15-18yrs) who self-identify as LGBTQ.

The intent is to pilot a summer project aimed at youth who identify as LGBTQ. Through summer camp-like sessions Project Workers will support the process by providing workshop, community-based and mentor-ship experiences in subject areas such as: Healthy Relationships, Bullying, Harm Reduction, Healthcare Navigation, Life skills/Self Awareness, Volunteerism, Career Exploration, etc.

Project Workers will be responsible for working with an existing staff team and will pull together resources and research to select the camp curriculum. The project workers will gain full experience with program development and implementation. Working alongside other agency programs will also provide opportunities for the Project Workers to make internal and external referrals to complement the supports required. Additional tasks will include: case management, statistical data collection, establishing on-going supports for the youth, and compiling a final report.

Requirements:
Be a youth aged 15 to 30 years who are full-time students intending to return to their studies in the next school year.

High awareness and experience with matters and issues among the LGBT youth community

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write and speak in a manner that appeals to wide audiences.

Experience with curriculum and instructional design principles and practices

Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environment, juggling multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines

Ability to lead, teach, coach and motivate.

Ajax: June 20 to August 26, 2016 ~ 2 positions

Whitby: June 20 to August 12, 2016 ~ 2 positions

Oshawa: June 20 to August 12, 2016 ~ 2 positions
