Purpose of Position:
To maintain, monitor, support, troubleshoot, install, and configure Infrastructure Services such as but not limited to; voice and data wide-area and local-area networks, servers, storage, backup software, Citrix environments, Flight System applications and associated technologies. Also, the position provides 1




tier problem resolution for IS services.

Key Responsibilities:
Monitor configured Infrastructure (Storage, Servers, VoIP, Virtualization Products, LAN/WAN components, and associated services).

Investigate LAN/WAN problems to isolate, diagnose, and recommend action to assist their correction.

Monitor the system for performance problems, viruses and report these to IS Infrastructure staff.

Maintain end user computer devices such as printers, PC’s, laptops, PDA’s, etc.

Manage & maintain remote client dial-in access, VPN connections, and accounts as required.

With tested documentation and guidelines, provide assistance to upgrade LAN/WAN hardware and software components as required.

Provide users and other IT staff with 2nd level LAN/WAN technical support.

Respond to needs and questions of users concerning their access to network resources. Provide networking assistance to users, including help with network connections and passwords.

Install and test, within our test environments, recommended hardware and software changes/upgrades as directed by the Infrastructure & Operations team before release into production.

Work closely with Support personnel to address user needs.

Monitor all server backup applications, investigating and reporting any errors or oddities to the Infrastructure & Operations team for possible resolution.

Perform server & network backups.

Assist in the implementation of end user support tools such as VNC, PCAnywhere, Remote Desktop, System Update Services (WSUS), Tivoli patching, Citrix Shadowing, or Asset Manager.

Participate in IT disaster backup and recovery.

Encourage ongoing teamwork in meetings, open dialogue, team challenges and informal collective experiences.

Shift work is a requirement at the headquarters location (Halifax Internaltional Airport).

Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, the safety of co-workers and customers.

Other related duties as assigned.

University Degree or Technical College Diploma preferred.

Certified Network Designation is an asset.

3 years experience in networking support and troubleshooting is preferred.

Knowledge and experience in the following is required: Backup Software (Veritas, Data Protection and/or Backup Exec), Citrix, VM Ware, McAfee, Cisco, Microsoft, Windows 2003/2008, ESX, TCP/IP, Remote Connectivity, VPN, WAN/LAN Technologies, OSI Model, VoIP, Windows XP/7, Active Directory.

Knowledge of SAN Technologies, Virtualization Technologies, and Enterprise Server Configuration is considered an asset.

Experience working with client/server applications and desktop/printer administration and support is required.

Knowledge of Airline Industry and/or Sabre Suite of Applications considered an asset.
