Purpose of Position:

The Occupational Safety & Health Specialist will be responsible for supporting the successful implementation of Jazz corporate OSH programs, ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements and providing guidance on occupational safety to national business units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with internal business units, external labour groups and regulators on OSH matters on an as needed basis.
  • Provide support and clarification to other departments as required on Corporate OSH policies and procedures.
  • Provide OSH findings and recommendations for corrective action plans of reported hazards, accidents or incidents.
  • Provide guidance and support to regional safety & health committees, attend meetings.
  • Undertake projects to improve corporate safety tools & promote a positive safety culture.
  • Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, and the safety of co-workers and customers.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Work experience in the area of occupational safety & health, preferably in the aviation or manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation, or working toward the CRSP designation is a definite asset.
  • Undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate in Occupational Safety & Health is required.
  • Familiar with concepts of loss control, risk assessment, hazard analysis and investigation required.
  • Experience working with health & safety committees is an asset.
  • Familiar with industrial hygiene monitoring, maintenance safety, hazardous materials management is an asset.
  • Solid knowledge of occupational safety & health systems and applicable legislation is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and a team player.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment with multiple ongoing projects under pressure.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) an asset.
