Description:

As a confidential management support contract employee, performs responsible professional and technical work assisting the CEO in a variety of air service development, airport marketing/communication/advertising initiatives and public outreach and communications functions in support of the airport’s strategic plan. In addition, performs various administrative and customer service functions within the office of the CEO.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing and Advertising

  • Assist in the development of airport marketing, communication and advertising strategies. Organize, coordinate, and administer social media and website marketing and advertising programs consistent with strategic goals and within available budget.
  • Coordinate the airport’s marketing communications programs to include informational and community relations materials, news releases, social media updates, public notices, etc. as related to stakeholders, tenants and various public organizations.
  • Creatively develop concepts and design print and electronic communications and advertising materials including, but not limited to, billboards, print media, online advertising and website maintenance. Create and compose copy for radio advertising, advertising slogans and other advertising media.
  • Manage and coordinate with various advertisers and vendors to gather information for the purpose of developing effective marketing strategies within budget; work with advertising firms and vendors to ensure deadlines are met and invoicing is accurate and monitor expenditures.
  • Develop and coordinate an airport community outreach program including speaking engagement material preparation, presentations, scheduling, program promotions, etc.
  • Utilize publishing software to create various advertising and promotional materials.

Air Service Development

  • Organize and maintain on a strictly confidential basis, various airline economic and market databases specific to JA Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport (YQY) from airline passenger traffic and general aviation statistics available through Sydney Airport and other available databases and sources. Interpret, format and present data consistent with reporting requirements.
  • Support and assist with airport primary research, including the development of passenger and various targeted surveys in a range of formats. Interpret, format and present data consistent with reporting requirements.
  • Maintain on a strictly confidential basis, an ongoing tracking system of YQY airfares for selected markets to include a regular competitive fare analysis utilizing airline CRS sources.
  • Design and produce professional-quality PowerPoint presentations to support meetings with airline route planners. Create various air service development presentations for use before the Sydney Airport Authority Board of Directors, municipal and provincial government representatives and tourist organizations as well as local destination marketing groups and organizations.

Administrative Job Duties

  • Provide support services to include general office, CEO correspondence and coordination/execution of various administrative projects related to airport marketing and communication objectives.
  • Create and maintain various confidential templates, spreadsheet and technical database statistics in support of a variety of airport functions.
  • Perform a variety of airport customer service, tenant and shareholder functions.
  • Assist and support various confidential airport administrative and financial functions as needed.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

  • Other duties in order to provide direct or indirect service to the community may be assigned as needed.
  • When unusual situations occur and/or the employee may be required to accept special assignments and perform as needed to ensure appropriate service delivery.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a college or university, with major in business administration, marketing, finance, or closely related field and some relevant work experience in marketing and communications/or office administration.

Other Qualifications:

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Required ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, some technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures using proper business grammar, punctuation, and sentence construction. Ability to present information and respond to questions from CEO, managers, SAA Board of Directors, tenants, vendors, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, discounts, commissions, proportions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Strong and confident interpersonal skills required for work with CEO, and other members of management, other workers, media, tenants, vendors, consultants and general public.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Demonstrated advanced technical skills in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Demonstrated ability to use the internet for search and other functions. Ability to perform various administrative tasks including typing and data entry. Ability to self-teach various applications used in the execution of air service development, marketing and administrative duties.

Other Requirements:

Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Use of personal vehicle may be required. Mileage expense will be provided.
