Job Location: Campbell River & Duncan, British Columbia

Iverson Forest Management Inc. (IFMI) is a dynamic forestry consulting firm which has been operating for over 20 years throughout both coastal and interior B.C. We have developed strong relationships with First Nations, forest licensees, economic development corporations and many other industry associates. IFMI has two offices on Vancouver Island, with our headquarters located in Duncan and our northern operations based in Campbell River.

We are currently seeking multiple summer students to join our team for a 4 to 8-month term. The successful candidates will assist our senior professional staff with all elements of cutblock and road development, gaining hands-on experiences including but not limited to field reconnaissance, cutblock and road layout, stream and riparian area assessment, bridge site plan surveys, GPS surveys, traversing, traverse note entry and basic data processing.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree or technical diploma program in Forestry or related fields
  • Physically fit to conduct intensive field work in challenging weather and terrain conditions
  • Availability to work in remote locations (camp shifts and flying in fixed or rotary winged aircrafts may be required)
  • Excellent team-player with a strong work ethic and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license
  • Must be available to commencework in May 2017
  • Experience in GPS survey, iPad field applications, RoadEng and ArcGIS will be considered an asset
