The corporate office for the Inland Group of Companies is based in Truro, Nova Scotia, with operations at more than 50 airports throughout North America as well as three European Countries, and is comprised of:

  • Inland Technologies, specializing in airport environmental services,
  • Integrated Deicing Services, delivering aircraft de-icing services, &
  • Quantem Aviation Services, specializing in airport ground and cargo handling.

This position will support business operations throughout Canada and in Europe.

Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager – Canada/Europe is responsible to provide professional level management of human resources in support of Canadian and European Operations. This position will require travel internationally at times to meet strategic business objectives. Key accountabilities for this position include: ensuring legislative/regulatory compliance with relevant employment law, employee relations, succession planning, performance management, policy implementation, and employee engagement projects.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Direct and manage overall Human Resources programs and ensure compliance with relevant employee-focused regulations and all applicable environmental laws and permits.
  • Develop and deliver applicable training to employees, supervisors and the management team to ensure up-to-date knowledge and compliance within areas of functional responsibility.
  • Advise facility management regarding appropriate resolution of employee relations issues including coaching, counselling and guiding managers prior to execution of employee disciplinary actions.
  • Job analysis to ensure design is consistent with operational requirements.
  • Investigation of employee concerns and recommendation of suitable remedy where appropriate including manager and/or employee counselling and exit interviewing.
  • Effectively respond to inquiries regarding interpretation of policies, procedures, programs, compensation and benefits. Assist in policy development when needed.
  • Implement and maintain HR policies and procedures including communications, postings and Employee Handbooks. Provide guidance and coaching to supervisory staff regarding HR policies and keep abreast of new employment laws and other related information.
  • Maintain, improve, provide assistance and monitor compliance with the company’s performance management system.
  • Support managers with talent development/succession plans and employees with the creation of individual development plans as needed.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and practices to continually improve organizational and department efficiency.
  • Partner with the recruiting team and hiring managers in interviewing candidates and formulating employment offers.
  • Review hours worked through payroll reporting prior to submission.
  • Other duties as assigned.

As the ideal candidate, you possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in human resource management is preferred although relevant post-secondary education and combination of continuing education and experience may be acceptable.
  • CPHR designation or other equivalent human resources professional practitioner certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ human resource management experience in a generalist capacity is essential with preference provided to candidates with both Canadian and European experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience interpreting and implementing various employment laws.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience navigating investigation and resolution of employee concerns.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365.
  • Above average written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly and successfully learn, interpret information and transfer knowledge to others.
  • Ability to self-manage multiple, simultaneous projects on deadline.
  • Ability to utilize a high level of emotional intelligence to relate and communicate effectively to individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent presentation skills and an ability to effectively influence people at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while achieving outcome expectations.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
  • Quick-thinking and resourceful.
  • Open-minded, consultative and collaborative style.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism in all interactions.

A valid Passport and eligibility to travel internationally is required as is a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
