Our Trane Office in Burnaby is seeking an
HVAC Field Technician
to join their growing Service business.
In this unique role, you will be responsible for retrofit and repair of environmental comfort systems, utilizing knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for servicing product and equipment on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Performs repairs, overhauls, and start-ups of commercial HVAC systems. Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot and replace components on multiple DDC Systems as needed in the field.
Uses a variety of hand tools, following blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schemes or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
Uses power tools and computers.
Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs systems and products at customer’s location.
Performs preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed or requested by customers.
Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.
Maintains vehicles by keeping records of service manuals, scheduling, and completing repairs and maintenance service.
Maintains tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear.
Documents work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
Represents company by serving as a direct customer contact.
Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
Keeps current all Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.
Provides technical support to customers.
Regular travel requirements with occasional overnight travel.
Flexibility to work on-call, overtime/weekends, as required.
May directly supervise HVAC Field Technician Apprentices in the Service Department.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic – Red Seal Certification.
Must have knowledge of multiple DDC systems in order to perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot and replace components as needed in the field.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license
Journeyman Refrigeration Status (Provincial Red Seal)

This position requires working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms and possible extreme weather conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment.
The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock (high voltage); and vibration.
The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
